Becoming a Volunteer

Your local community needs you to become an Ask Us Volunteer to help educate your contacts about the dangers of gang-related crime and youth violence. Working with us and local partners, you can help make a difference through our ‘Ask Us’ scheme.

There are no specific criteria or qualifications needed. We are looking to engage ambassadors that reflect the community – your background, gender or current lack of experience and knowledge when it comes to the causes or impact of gang activity are not a bar to registering your interest. However, before you offer your support, we would recommend that you familiarise yourself with the role profile and are happy that you can dedicate enough time to the role. After the training, the time commitment is as much or as little as you can, but we would hope that you can offer 4 hours per month, minimum, as a Volunteer.

Furthermore, after the training you will become part of the volunteer network in your community. We will co-ordinate further development and top-up training for you and the network and this may include networking meetings and knowledge and information sharing sessions. We will keep you posted on these opportunities but in the meantime, as well as giving your time and listening to young people, we will ask all our volunteers to fill  in an online questionnaire each month to let us how you are doing and what support you’ve been providing to local young people.
